I'm a local web designer who believes getting a good website shouldn't be complicated.
I'm based in Whitley Bay and I've been working with technology for more than 30 years. These days, I use that experience to help small businesses, sole traders and organisations get professional websites without the jargon, hassle or unnecessary expense. Maybe I can help you?
You probably don't want to become a web designer. You just want a website that looks professional, works well on phones, tells people what you do and makes it easy for potential customers to get in touch. That's where I come in.
I'll explain things in plain English, help you work out what you actually need and take care of the technical stuff. Whether you need a simple website to get your business online or something more bespoke, I'll recommend an approach that makes sense for you and your budget.
And if there's a simpler or cheaper way to solve your problem, I'll tell you. I won't sell you features you don't need or make things complicated just because I can. I'm also up front about how my pricing works.
A website isn't there to show off how clever the designer is. It's there to help your customers. When someone visits your website, they should quickly understand what you do, find the information they're looking for and know what to do next.
That's why I keep things clear, simple and easy to use. Good design should feel natural — your visitors shouldn't have to think about how the website works. They should be able to concentrate on what your business can do for them.
In short, I design websites for your customers, not for me.
I don't expect you to know anything about websites or technology. That's my job. We'll start with a conversation about your business, what you're trying to achieve and what you actually need. I'll explain your options in plain English and recommend an approach that makes sense for you and your budget.
Once we've agreed what we're doing, I'll get on with it. You'll be able to see your website as it takes shape, give me feedback and ask questions along the way. And if you change your mind or want to add something, that's fine too. I'll explain what it means for the project and any additional cost before I do the work. With me there's no jargon and no surprises.
I keep things straightforward from the start. We'll agree what you need, what I'm going to do and what I need from you.
You'll be able to see your website as it's being built, give me feedback and ask questions along the way. I'll keep you updated and make sure you know what's happening at each stage.
I'm happy to make minor tweaks as we go. If you decide you want something significantly different or want to add something that's outside the original plan, I'll explain what's involved and any additional cost before I do the work.
Once your website is live, I'll also show you the things you can do to keep it working well and help people find you.
Before focusing on websites for small businesses, I spent much of my career working with technology for large organisations, public-sector bodies and international companies.
I've worked across technology, digital delivery, architecture and consultancy, so I'm used to solving complex problems and finding practical solutions. These days, I use that experience to help smaller businesses get the right solution without making things unnecessarily complicated.
I'm a certified TOGAF Architect, Scaled Agile Architect, Google Product Expert and Chartered Management Consultant. I've also picked up a few industry awards along the way — including a national award for supporting Women in Tech, which I'm particularly proud of.
But qualifications and awards only tell part of the story.
What matters is how I use that experience. My aim is to give you practical, straightforward advice and help you find a solution that works for your business — not sell you something you don't need.
Want to see some of my work? Take a look at some of the websites I've built.
I've even built a website for my nan. So I can probably explain things to you, too. 🙂
Not every project fits neatly into a list of services, but you can see what I can help with here.
If you have an idea, a specific problem to solve, or you're simply not sure what you need, get in touch. I'm happy to talk it through and see what might work.
It might be something I can help with directly, or I may be able to point you in the right direction.
No need to have it all figured out before you get in touch.
